Planning and Consideration Necessary Before You Buy Trailer
To buy trailer requires some degree of planning and consideration of the intended purpose of the trailer to be purchased. There is a wide variety of trailers on the market, each with an intended and specific design of purpose. All motor vehicles are also not suitable to tow any trailer, so the model of car and its engine output (in KW) are important considerations vs. the weight of the trailer and its braking mechanism. Light weight trailers normally rely on the braking power of the towing vehicle, while the heavier trailers would have its own braking system working in unison with that of the towing vehicle.
Trailers available on the market essentially fall into four categories, i.e.: general purpose trailers, camping or bush trailers, transport trailers and specialized trailers like horse trailers or motorbike trailers. For the purpose of this discussion, we will only consider the first two categories in buy trailer. General purpose trailers generally are more light weight trailers intended for the transport of luggage on holiday and as a popular by product the cartage of garden rubble to the dumping grounds. There are various derivatives of these trailers, some larger than others, some with a double set of wheels, some with a nose cone and some even with an additional luggage rack on the lid. These trailers are really intended to be used on normal roads, although some manufacturers, like Jurgens, also produce an off road version, albeit not really intended as a camping trailer per se.
Bush and camping trailers are gaining in popularity and are really specialised trailers, designed and made for camping purposes - they come fully equipped for camping - and are not intended for general usage, as they are larger and heavier than general purpose trailers designed for off road access. There is, however, also a new version available that is intended for use on normal roads with the same camping facilities as it's off road cousins. Clearly such trailer is not equipped with the heavier suspension and other characteristics of an off roader, and therefore less expensive, as a buy trailer. These utility transport devices add a wonderful dimension to the use of the family car or SUV.
